As we count down the hours till Apple officially releases Mac OS Leopard 10.5, there will be many giveaways and contests. This will last for the first week of leopard being out. From this Friday, October 26th at 6 PM EST till next Friday, we will host the “Week of Leopard”.

This giveaway will be for 5 licenses of a secret application that I am working on. It has not yet been released, but when it is, the winners will each get a license emailed to them. To enter, post a comment telling us if you waited in line for leopard, how long the wait was if you did, and if you didn’t, why, and if you regret it. The five winners will receive one license of my application once it comes out each.

I didn’t wait in line, if only because my dad wouldn’t drive me to the store, but in hindsight it was a good idea because I got leopard 3 hours earlier than the people in line did.

“As we count down the hours till Apple officially releases Mac OS Leopard 10.5…” Didn’t they already release it… Yea they did.

    And one more thing…

Didn’t TUAW do the 24 Hours of Leopard?

Oh, waiting for Leopard was so bad. I waited at home for FedEx. I got up around 7 and sat around, then I got a delay on my shipment! Until monday! So I called FedEx, they blamed Apple, called Apple, they blamed FedEx. Then I called FedEx again, and they sent a message to the truck driver and said it shoudl come by 10:30. By 10:20 I had given up hope and was planing on going to the store, then 10:29, the truck drove down my street and… STRAIGHT INTO MY DRIVEWAY! Went out and apparantly the lady had too much to deliver and canceled shipment for the small Apple boxes but since I called she had to come. Then I went upstairs and installe it :). I’m interested in what this secret app is ;).

I didn’t wait in line because of that whole homework thing… really gets on one’s nerves when something really cool is happening and your stuck, not even on a computer but in front of a pile of papers and text books (not MacBooks, unfortunately). And in hindsight, I’m kind of happy I didn’t wait in line, I’m passing all my classes and don’t have enough money for a new computer anyways, since mine would barley runs Tiger as it is. So, maybe when Apple releases the next rev of ‘books I’ll have enough money and be able to get one preloaded. :)

  6. Connor Cimowsky Says:

I didn’t wait in line because I pre-ordered! I don’t regret not waiting, because it would only be for the t-shirt which I got from a friend anyway. I guess I only missed the snacks :D

  7. David Says:

I preordered, got it on Oct 26, and paid $40 dollars less than everyone else. ;)

  8. AGhost Says:

I had to wait all weekend to get Leopard because my closest computer shop closed at 5 PM on the day Leopard was released and did not re-open till Monday morning.

  9. Geoff Pado Says:

I waited outside the St. Louis, MO Apple Store. I was about #60 in line, and waited about 30 minutes before the store opened. The Apple people came around with a handheld camera and did interviews of people in line. They came along and interviewed me because I was wearing my WWDC ‘07 t-shirt. (”Best Leopard feature?” “Xcode 3″). As we were entering the store, the most awesome thing happened. Two stores down from the Apple store is a Swiss chocolatier, and they started handing out free samples to those of us in line. Once inside, it was almost no time at all until we had our shirt, our Leopard and we were out. Great experience. Love the shirt, loved the chocolate, and hope to love the “secret app”.

I didn’t wait and I’m not regretting it at all. I’ve installed leopard on my work computer, but it’s much too young to put onto my home computer (which is where I use CS apps). I’m gonna stall til 10.51 or 10.52 for that. Everyone knows that Apple’s first gen stuff is a little flakey.
