DragThing

General Info: Is it the best launcher ever, or does it just drag? DragThing can be used to open applications, documents, and any other file. The salient difference between DragThing and its competitors is configurability. DragThing can be configured to act just like the Dock, Overflow.app, and more. The color, transparency, and overall theme is entirely changeable (in addition to more settings than are exciting to read about). To get an idea of DragThing’s power, you need to use it. With all of these settings comes great responsibility need to save them, and DragThing does just that. Docks can be saved as .dt5d files. A virtually infinite number of Docks can be made with DragThing and used simultaneously. Say you want one Dock for apps, another for documents, and another for bookmarks, no problem. To stop Docks from cluttering your screen, DragThing Docks can be minimized, hidden, or slide to the side or bottom. To combine all Docks into one Dock, you can use an elegant, tabbed interface.

While completed Docks are easy to use, DragThing’s settings windows make it hard to configure. The settings interfaces often feel crowded. One way to improve DragThing would be to copy Apple’s Preferences.app’s interface. All categories would be neatly organized and a search-box in the top right corner would be nice. Another thing I would like to see is more configurability in the way tabs work. DragThing also ought to have the ability to hide the extension. Each user has different launcher needs. DragThing aims to be the launcher for everyone. While it mostly succeeds, DragThing needs to have a less daunting set of windows to configure Docks.
